On August 29,2023, Traffic & Mobility Consultants (TMC) attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Harmon Road Extension, which runs from Ocoee Apopka Road to Marden Road. This roadway will help shorten the commute time for those in an emergency traveling to/from Advent Health Hospital, whether by ambulance, fire truck, or car. The hospital is located on the west side of the intersection of Ocoee Apopka Road and Harmon Road.
TMC prepared the signalization plans for the intersection of Ocoee Apopka Road and Harmon Road. The design included 2 dual mast arms, 8 pedestrian pedestals, and a vault for future ITS communication. TMC also designed the signal for the new fire station located on Harmon Road, which is planned to start construction later this year.
Those in attendance at the event included Apopka’s mayor Bryan Nelson, city staff, and representatives from Central Florida Expressway and Advent Health Apopka. Along with the construction and design teams. The ceremony took place on the new segment of Harmon Road at the future site of Fire Station 6.
As they cut the ribbon, the signal was turned on!
